The EU Colombia-Peru FTA: For an efficient Road Map on Human Rights

The FTA between the EU and Colombia/Peru is one of the most controversial agreements that the EU has ever signed. Major Trade Unions, Human rights organisations, and many MEPs have raised concerns about the current very high rates of impunity and human rights violations, especially in Colombia. Many also expressed their doubts about the supposed beneficial effects of the FTA and think it may very well worsen the human rights situation.

In order to get the majority for the vote on the FTA in October, the EPP and S&D rapporteurs are proposing to create a "Road Map" on Labour and Human Rights that should be voted next Wednesday June 13th.

Can this "Road Map" really contribute to the human, labour and environmental rights and not remain as pure soft law? What would be the minimum conditions therefore?
